The M2M Roaming Lab appoints Didier Durand, Roaming & International Director at Orange, as the new M2M Lab Chair. We thank Johannes Opitz, former M2M Lab Chair, for laying the foundations of this Lab, focusing on knowledge sharing, and exploring new ways to improve the M2M/IoT Roaming environment. Didier will work closely with the Lab members to achieve the objectives defined in the M2M/IoT Work Plan.
“I’m really honoured to be appointed as chair of the M2M roaming Lab by the executive board of IO. M2M is a key subject for MNOs with a lot of complexity to manage the deployment of complete M2M services for customers and to create value for our industry at the same time. As a chairman, I’m willing to achieve concrete results that will help the community to develop a useful value added proposal for our industry. I also aim to develop a deeper M2M knowledge for MNOs which express a strong interest in this topic.”
Didier joined Orange in 1993 and started as IT project manager in wireline field and moved towards mobile issues. Afterwards, as program director, he managed major program within Orange France, such as mobile number portability and mobile contactless services. Under this role, he set-up various professionals’ association or Joint venture with external companies. He became Wholesale Roaming Director for Orange France in 2012, and in addition M2M Roaming Director for Orange Group since June 2020. Didier hold an IT engineer degree from INSA Lyon.
It’s with great pleasure that IO welcomes Didier Durand to the team, and thanks Johannes Opitz for his accomplishments as the first M2M/IoT Lab Chair. M2M/IoT is a space for mobile operators to leverage the new opportunities M2M/IoT presents.
