IO welcomes Kirit Ruparelia, Founder, Executive Chairman & CEO of Nextgen Clearing, as a new member of the Advisory Board. The IO Advisory Board comprises industry leaders and experts who serve as thought partners and strategists to further the movement for developing International Roaming. In short, the IO Advisory Board serves the purpose of its name—to offer advice that helps the IO community grow and achieve its Roaming Development Goals.
“I have been privileged to be involved in the Telco industry for more than twenty years, with a previous fifteen years in banking. I have been a witness to, and contributed to, the development of roaming clearing and settlement solutions which have supported people’s ability to communicate with each other wherever they travelled around the globe.
But what really excites me today is to see at play now in the telco sector, the same forces that transformed the financial world thirty years ago. Huge increases in transaction volumes from IoT, disruptive technology with 5G deployment, straight through processing and new products are all set to shape the landscape of roaming in the coming years in ways that scarcely seemed possible just a short time ago.
I am motivated now more than ever to help drive the changes that will enable telcos to improve peoples’ lives in many different ways.”
Kirit Ruparelia
Kirit is a serial entrepreneur and the founder of two highly successful companies in the clearing industry, both of which have provided good returns for Investors. The first (United Clearing) was sold on to Billing Services Group (BSG) in 2006, achieving a successful exit for the Shareholders.
When founding Nextgen in 2007, Kirit’s aim was twofold; first was to build a world-class business that delivers seamless, automated world of Data and Financial Clearing, and second, to provide a market-leading place for employees that makes a real impact on the lives and business of its customers.
A passionate, driven and an inclusive leader, Kirit is responsible for bringing this vision into reality. Prior to moving into the mobile industry, Kirit worked in banking and software for over 15 years at companies such as Reuters and very successful fast-growing companies such as Quay Financial, NeXT Software and Apple Inc. where he had the privilege of working with Steve Jobs.
Kirit has a BSc Honors degree in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of London, Goldsmiths College. He also chaired eComm Monitor, working with Professor Vashek Matyas of Cambridge and Brno University, a world expert in digital security and cryptography.
