Inaugural IO LATAM Connect in Rio Strengthens MNO Collaboration Across Latin America
The first IO LATAM Connect event was held by IO in collaboration with Infobip from September 3rd to 5th in Rio de Janeiro. This event brought together representatives from major mobile network operators (MNOs) across Latin America, including Claro Brasil, Claro Chile S.A., Digicel Group, Entel Chile, Entel Perú, Telecom Argentina, Telefónica, and TIM Brasil and representatives from other regions such as Jio, DISH Network, and e& Group.
The three-day event served as an important forum for MNOs to engage in key discussions, interactive Lab sessions, and strategic conversations focused on the unique challenges and opportunities facing the Latin American telecommunications industry. The event highlighted the need for collaboration to tackle regional hurdles, from network expansion and digital transformation to improving customer experience and integrating emerging technologies.
With plenty of networking opportunities around the city provided by the Infobip team, delegates actively participated in 5G Roaming Lab (5GRL), M2M Roaming Lab (M2MRL), Messaging Evolution Lab (MEL), and VoLTE Roaming Lab (VRL). Having some of the lab leadership representatives joining in person, Luc Lamoureux (Jio, 5GRL) and Pablo Mlikota (e& Group, MEL), while others connected remotely to ensure they communicated their labs mission and workstreams.
Infobip also facilitated a panel discussion on one of the most relevant topics in the region, Open Gateway, moderated by Alex Pereira. The session invited MNOs to share their insights and discuss the progress they are making in advancing this initiative, which holds potential impact the future of mobile operators.
By bringing together diverse voices in the industry, IO LATAM Connect has laid a strong foundation for continued progress and partnership in the region. The event’s success underscored the importance of cooperation in shaping the future of connectivity globally with Latin America representatives at the table.
