Brenda Carmichael from Verizon, new member of the IO Executive Board
It is with great pleasure that IO announces Brenda Carmichael, Senior Director of International Roaming at Verizon, as a new member of the Executive Board. Commencing a new term on the Executive Board, Verizon has been welcomed by other board members as it joins the Executive Board for the first time.
Since the launch of IO in April 2021, the non-profit member organisation has focused on Roaming and Interconnect, recently adding Messaging to the scope of work. Receiving great recognition from the industry through mobile operator engagement, MNOs have a neutral space for focus and collaboration across all IO Labs. Within the IO Labs, MNOs find a neutral environment for collaboration to raise awareness, become more aligned with industry dynamics, and actively prioritize significant connectivity projects.

Brenda Carmichael
Brenda Carmichael is currently the Senior Director of International Roaming for Verizon, leading the teams for Global Roaming Product Development and Marketing & Operator Strategic Negotiations across 600+ operators in over 220+ countries. Brenda’s focus is on inter-operator strategic partnerships that increase revenue and drive cost savings while leveraging those partnerships to drive innovation and increased communication with her partners. She and her team are currently working on various initiatives that will continue to enhance Verizon’s customer experience whilst roaming.
Prior to her current role, Brenda worked as a Senior Manager in Verizon’s IT Sourcing Organization, partnering with Verizon’s CTO on strategy and implementation, and, leading cross-functional teams negotiating with major Suppliers in categories such as; AI/ML, BI, ERP, Cloud Infrastructure, to name but a few. Brenda was recognized for strategic excellence in Verizon for her work around contract and pricing system alignment within Verizon.
Prior to joining Verizon Brenda was self-employed as a Barrister in Ireland. Brenda had a successful and varied practice and litigated and advocated in various types of law.
Brenda holds a Bachelors of Legal and Business Studies, Barrister at Law Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business and IT (through Irish), and multiple other Certificates and Diplomas. Brenda is currently the Country Lead for Ireland of the Women’s Association of Verizon Employees (WAVE) and has a passion for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion and is also the lead of the Verizon Engagement Hub in Ireland, whose goal is to bring our employees together for Moments that Matter and encourages networking, development and idea generation within Verizon. In her spare time Brenda continuously likes to learn new things, going clay shooting, listening to podcasts and mentoring. Brenda works in the Dublin, Ireland office of Verizon.

Having established its member organisation in 2021, IO seeks to support the industry with workshops where mobile operators exchange best practices, IO training, and insights which assist Mobile Operators in strategic decision-making and seeking new opportunities amidst a challenging and disruptive communications environment.
