Announcing the New Deputy Chair of the Messaging Evolution Lab: Jim Sturges from AT&T
The Messaging Evolution Lab, established to analyze the messaging ecosystem from an MNO perspective, is pleased to announce Jim Sturges, Principal Product Development Engineer at AT&T, as the new Deputy Chair.
A Principal Product Development Engineer with over 10 years of experience at AT&T and over 20 years in the wireless mobility industry, Jim manages roaming and interworking for AT&T’s P2P messaging products. In addition, Jim represents AT&T in the GSMA WSolu and WAgree groups and is currently a Co-Chair of the WBA group for 5G and Wi-Fi convergence.
“In the ever-changing mobile environment, messaging remains a strong, vibrant, and growing segment of the industry. While SMS remains a strong component, in the last few years RCS has regained its edge and looks to realize its long-awaited promise. Meanwhile, the other over-the-top messaging also has a major part to play. The exciting challenge of the next few years will be for Operators to determine the proper mix of technologies for success in the messaging space. To that end, the IO Messaging Evolution Lab could play a major role in helping make these important decisions.”
