Announcing the ARA Lab Deputy Chair: Gideon Ndogo from Safaricom

The African Roaming Alliance Lab completes its leadership team by welcoming Gideon Ndogo, Systems Support Engineer at Safaricom PLC, as its Deputy Chair. Gideon has been supportive of the ARA Lab providing great contributions in its first meetings. Next to Atim Akeh-Osu, ARA Lab Chair, Gideon complements the team with his perspective on a different African Region and his interest in new technologies.

Gideon Ndogo has been working in the Telecoms industry for 15 years. He has vast experience in billing and charging, international roaming, GSM TADIG/Roaming Analysis and Data Clearing House (DCH) Roaming Operations, as well as operations related to onboarding of new roaming operators.

“I have a deep interest in international roaming space to ensure we share experiences, challenges and how to overcome them. As far as roaming space is concerned, the future is bright as companies prepare to embrace the new technologies such as IoT roaming, blockchain, BCE etc.”

Currently working as an Engineer under the Revenue Management team at Safaricom PLC, Gideon makes sure all technical implementations of the commercial business requirements regarding roaming services are adhered to and properly implemented. He also coordinates with the Regulatory and Public Policy Department, VAS Roaming Team, and International Roaming partners to ensure they conform to GSMA regulations.

Gideon is actively involved in managing new Network Operators’ commercial launch processes in liaison with other International Roaming operators, internal stakeholders and Data Clearing Houses. In regard to combat roaming fraud in the company, in 2009 Gideon was involved in implementing Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange which is the GSM Association’s global standard for combatting roaming fraud.

At the moment, Gideon Ndogo is involved in Blockchain, reviewing how its use could be beneficial for Safaricom and other operators.

ARA is a space where African operators’ voices can be heard, no matter what their concerns might be, this platform will allow them to have a place of reference where to go for knowledge sharing.
